About Me

I live in Western North Carolina and teach at a small college. My fiction is about Appalachia from the 19th century up to the present. I've been a Marine, a newspaper reporter, a fishing guide and other such sundry. My stories have appeared (or will soon) in Night Train, North Carolina Literary Review, Pequin, VerbSap, Word Riot, Wrong Tree Review and others.

Why do you write?

Because I have no choice in the matter
