Author of the story collection Human Oddities.

    Why do you write?

    Because I love language.
Because swapping stories turns me on.
Because I can't do corporate drag.

    Any favorite authors? Books?

Angela Carter's Nights at the Circus, Elizabeth McCracken's The Giant's House, Barbara Gowdy's We So Seldom Look on Love, Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Mary Gaitskill's Veronica, Mary Robison's Why Did I Ever, Jane Bowles' My Sister's Hand in Mine, Nabokov's Lolita, Grimm's fairy tales, Lucy Corin's Everyday Psychokillers: A History for Girls, Maggie Nelson's Jane: A Murder, Kelly Link's Magic for Beginners.

    Noria,
Have you read Barbara Gowdy's Mr. Sandman? Terrific writing. I'll have to look for We So Seldom Look On Love.

Hi Noria! I just remembered about this thing. By this thing I mean this site. I like it. It's like Facebook, but without the constant pictures of my baby. How are you? When do I get to read your novel? God, what an obnoxious question that is.

Wowza, Noria! This is, I think, the first time I've seen Jane Bowles on someone's fave list. I'm impressed. "Camp Cataract" is one of my favorite stories. I have a friend who wrote a book about Paul--met him in Tangier and everything--and he turned me on to both Bowleses. I don't really come across their names much, so this is a treat.

    "Sadie Hawkins Day" rocks!
