What they don’t tell you, or perhaps what you don’t choose to hear, when you’re trying to get pregnant is that eventually the baby will be there but you’ll have to go back to work. And for some unknown reason the baby won’t be allowed to come to work with you! What they also failed to tell us is that when maternity leave ended, we’d have to hand our newborn—our pride and joy, the most valuable single thing in our life—over to more-or-less perfect stranger. And while we haven’t had to do that just yet, it has caused quite a bit of anxiety in the Miller household.
