Gary squats before the Safeway
on blue sky days.
Today he reads
Raymond Chandler.
Hair a little wild...
the professorial air.
Bipolar. Schizophrenic. Alcoholic.
Addicted. Abused. A reader?
Hobo and hoboed.
He's chosen me, or I him.
Use a buck, Gary?
Why thanks.
County stir's not so bad.
Chandler says the same.
Take care, OK?
Sure thing, you bet.

You've got to have your homeless guy... got to find the right one.

Enjoyed reading your poem.
This face bears a strong resemblance to the actor Pete Postlethwaite (see Usual Suspects). But I digress.
Like the use of hobo as a past tense verb. Like the clipped sound of "use a buck, Gary?" and "sure thing, you bet" In fact I like everything about this.
yes, nice stuff, steven.
"Bipolar. Schizophrenic. Alcoholic.
Addicted. Abused. A reader?"
What a question? Great.
