Recently, Radio New Zealand(equivalent to our NPR) hosted a show and invited Sally Houtman to talk about Fiction and Flash Fiction writing. This has to do with New Zealand’s National Flash Fiction Day celebration and her story was the one to kick off the celebration (Yay!).
It is my pleasure and honor to post the link here for all of you to listen.

P.S. Sally has a beautiful voice!
Good news! Congratulations to Sally.
I'm so glad you posted this, Rachna.
Congrats, dear Sally! xoxo
Thank you, Rachna, for posting this! And thanks to anyone who takes the time to have a listen. The whole show runs about 14 minutes.
FYI - for those who do listen - my story "At Barrett Reef" which opens the program is about a passenger ferry, the Wahine, which capsized in a terrible storm at Barrett Reef in 1968, killing 53 people. There are memorial services for the victims on the beach just below my house.
C :), xoxo
You're welcome Sally. :)
Enjoyed.
Very strange, but nice to hear the voice of a writer whose work you admire, but have never met. You do have a lovely voice, Sally.
Very strange, indeed, especially as the face of Meryl Streep appeared on my screen and began lip-syncing along as Sally spoke. A-and now "Dancing Queen" has implanted itself in my ear!
Thank you, Rachna, for posting this.
Sally, so enjoyed "At Barrett Reef" read aloud. Further, it was wonderful to hear your voice, Sally, in the interview. You are gracious to share your knowledge and experience.
Congratulations, Sally.
Appreciate anyone whose taken the time to share my 14 minutes and 25 seconds of fame. Only 35 more seconds to go...
JLD and Matthew -
"Very strange"
Yeah, a phrase *oft*used to describe me.
Oops - that should read 'anyone who's'
Eee-gad, wish I could proofread the text in the box before posting the comment!
“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
― Omar Khayyám
(Sorry, Sally)
