I write because that's how I figure out what I'm thinking and feeling. I work out life through stories, and in painting emotion on the page in words. That moment when, if you're lucky, the reader connects with something you've written and it resonates-that's sublime, that's nirvana for me.
My favorite authors include Stephen R. Lawhead, Steven Erikson, Glenn Cook, Alan Watts, Bernard Cornwell, Charles Dickens, Cormac McCarthy, E.L. Doctorow, Ronlyn Domingue, Jack Riggs, and Doug Stanton...at least that's my first blush.
While I like to read a lot of different things, I am at my core an epic fantasy type, so when asked to list my favorite books those which float to the top are often Stephen R. Lawhead's Pendragon Cycle, Steven Erikson's Malazan Empire series, or The Chronicles of the Black Company by Glen Cook. I would be remiss if I did not also include my earliest roots with Le Morte d'Arthur by Sir Thomas Mallory and J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy - I make no apologies.
Thanks Robert, I'm looking forward to learning my way around. I'll be sure to check out some of your work.
