Melinda Tennison

About Me

I am a professional journalist, poet and nonfiction writer based in Asheville, NC. My first poem was published at age nine and engraved on the artist plaque that accompanied Robert Rauschenberg's mural at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. for over twenty five years. My nonfiction has appeared in The Washington Post, Rapid River Arts & Culture and Details. My current work explores the use of creativity to facilitate healing from trauma and loss. My first children's book, My Summer with Robert Rauschenberg, is now in development.
