  • About Me

My debut novel, The French Revolution, is an allegorical family saga loosely structured on the historical French Revolution. It's been been called "wildly imaginative," "brilliant," and "an excellent achievement," and was selected by Poets & Writers as a Notable Debut. I'm mildly infamous for releasing the novel on Twitter originally. I blog regularly for The Huffington Post and The Nervous Breakdown, and my short stories have appeared in Instant City, McSweeney's, Iron Horse and more.

    Why do you write?

To create fascinating worlds nobody's experienced before, within the world we know and love.

    Any favorite authors? Books?

The Shipping News by Annie Proulx is my hands-down favorite, and I also go back to The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai Shame by Salman Rushdie. Recently I really dug Winter's Bones by Daniel Woodrell. Ian McEwan's Solar is the best novel about environmentalism I've read in a long time.
