  • About Me

    K. A. Laity is the award-winning author of Unikirja (Aino Press 2009), a collection of short stories and a play based on the Kalevala, Kanteletar, and other Finnish myths and legend (for which she won the 2005 Eureka Short Story Fellowship as well as a 2006 Finlandia Foundation grant) as well as Pelzmantel: A Medieval Tale (revised & expanded edition available June 2010 from Immanion Press), the comic Jane Quiet, short stories, humor, plays and essays. Clive Barker has called her work "full of fluent style and poetic dialogue" and Matrifocus Magazine says "Laity's storytelling is magic in itself. The language is beautiful and weaves vivid pictures for the reader's imagination."

Dr. Laity writes for the global women's lifestyle network, BitchBuzz, and teaches medieval literature, film, New Media and popular culture at the College of Saint Rose. It has never been said of her that she shrank from ants.

    Why do you write?

There are only two choices: writing or madness. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.

Okay, so I didn't realise that I had not actually "published" the story I put up first. Argh.

Oh, wow -- what a nice welcome! Thank you. I am slowly getting things up and discovering the Fictionaut world.
