Deborah Smith Ford's background includes teaching and dental assisting which she used, with veterinary husband, for shuttle missionary work with World Concern, traveling and working in a variety of third world countries.

Ford's more recent interests lie in her family, travels, acting, writing and impersonating celebrities - one of which is most popular, Trinity from the MATRIX films!

As an author, Ford's books follow the life of Allie - Allie's Adventures Around the World!

The Little Apple is Ford's published children's book, and the illustrator is Susi Galloway Newell. The book is about life on a farm as seen through the eyes of a child... more to follow!

Why do you write?

As a writer, I cannot remember NOT writing - rather it be when I was a child sketching, creating cartoons, writing in diaries and journals, making up short stories and then finally putting one of my college projects, that of writing a children's book, to the test of getting it published!

I have been blessed to have a somewhat colorful background, especially in travels, so why not allow Allie, child in books, to take those travels, again, for me - relive it all through the eyes of her.

The fueling of all the above comes from the interest and reactions of the readers. I love the feel of sharing my book and writing on book tours - hearing children's reactions and their desire to write as well! Nothing compares to that, and is one of the main reasons I write.

Any favorite authors? Books?

To tell the truth, I have not taken the time to read much myself. My growing up years into young adulthood found my literary interests to be that of mystery (Nancy Drew!), action adventure, science fiction and believe it or not, reading about real life facts in books like the National Geographic! I suppose my interests still remain the same.

Now that I create articles on other writers and authors, my goal is to delve into their works. So I have no particular favorite book or author yet, but I am looking forward to having one!
