Let us arm the blades
of grass against
trampling feet
Mice bites are sharp
yet cats take them
down. Muskets for
all rodents!
Scaly lichen on rock
is prone to freezy
rain. Umbrella
protection
for each strain
of my thoughts
that cannot see how
kindergarteners
sent to class with
Uzis will foster
a learning past
that of killing
being the best way
to deal with sad feelings
hurt grades and
those pesky major
differences of opinion
which surface when teachers
glide on murky puddles
to discuss what the second or
fourth amendments represent.

I listened to the NRA's press conference this morning while doing pilates. All day, snippets of this poem have emerged. This is the way I chose to put them in order.
I am glad I did not watch the NRA press conference. I can only stand so much self-justifying bullshit before I start to lose faith in humanity.
