Cal watched Rachel's graceful back as she stood centered in the window grid lining her studio. Hands propped on either side of her, where windowsill bisected wall, a pair of oblique angles. He saw symmetry, exquisite geometry, body and built world in harmony. Then, she leaned slightly into her hip and the symmetry broke.

This is a tiny fragment of longer work, but it has always felt to me like it tells the entire story.
This is gorgeous and perfect and yes, tells the entire story.
Thanks Kathy!
There's such a lovely music to the wording of this.
It's very hard for writers to judge their own work, but I agree with you and Kathy; PHYSICIST does tell the entire story.
Lovely. Haven't read the entire story, I wouldn't know, but I do appreciate the physicist's perspective of meticulous perfection needing to be met. Peace...
Love the end sentence particularly.
"window grid lining her studio"
Is "lining" the word you really want here? Do you really need "lining her studio" at all?
This fragment is excellent! Certainly stands on its own.
Ah, the fragility of our expectations. Loved this.
A complete story, yes. Loved the last line!
Thanks for the warm welcome and comments, everyone.
This is very nice. A frag perhaps, but still honed razor sharp!
Loved this very complete moment. *
what can i say, i'm a physicist and it's all true and happening just like that.
