Happy Is a Poem
by Gary Hardaway
Happy people don't need poems.
They observe, remarking with a
yes-- no need to write it if you
live it, conscious of the light, the
shape, the sound, the taste, and shadow.
Lives are poems for the happy
who read and answer, yes.
The poet lives on paper.
Just a simple unadorned "like" for this one!
Thank you, Carol, giver of good advice.
It's a paradox that sad or happy poems make unhappy people feel better.
"Lives are poems for the happy
who read and answer, yes."
Goodness. Good poem, Gary.
"no need to write it if you
live it."I know this is good when an hour after reading, I'm still pondering and testing the premises set forth.*
Yes. Poets are emperors of ink. I like the idea presented here of the implicit division between the exigencies of the everyday and the empires of poetry, spouts in pools of infinite reflection.
Thank you, Gloria, Sam, Gary and John for kind remarks that lively up my Saturday so very nicely.
Not sure I can agree. But like? Yes. *
Good poem, Gary. It's an idea that would be fun to discuss.*
Thanks, Beate and John.
