by Brian Mihok
Robert wants so badly after reading a book where a man wakes up as a bug to wake up as a bug. He researches the avenues of metamorphosis where science has been where it is going. He is disappointed that of all things science has turned into other things, none are into bugs. Robert reads that just recently a team of biologists & geneticists discovered a way of transforming bugs into other things. Considered the most successful is an ant turned thumbtack known as Pinky. Pinky hit the headlines like a lightning bolt. Also a termite into a magnet a beetle into a paper clip and, considered a colossal failure, a caterpillar into a butterfly. Robert sits back and thinks about becoming a scientist so he can figure out how to make things in reverse order. In the morning the alarm goes off but Robert sleeps through it.

"Considered the most successful is an ant turned thumbtack known as Pinky."
Got a laugh, as did the colossal failure line.
I believe it's lightning, unless you are doing a play on words, in which case my hat is off to you.
Thanks David. Good catch.
My pleasure, Brian, if only I could catch such things in my own works.
I was a law firm lackey for a few years, reviewing 100+ page documents for typos, etc. All these years later, I get insanely excited catching things like that.
Love the quirky phrasing in this. And the colossal failure of the caterpillar into a butterfly. Nice read. Thanks for posting.
Thanks Cami. Nice of you to say.
