Well it's December 8 and I did not really feel like trying to write another mourning cloak to put on again, all of which concerns the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's death, but the truth is I liked John, very much. For a good many years John was a wonderful, gifted, silly friend to most of us, sending us extraordinary missives of music, poetry, films, cartoons and art.He inspired a lot of us to always hope for a better world. And he was fun to be around, not all of the time, even if it was just all in our headphones. He didn't deserve bullets in the back. That's all I'm saying.Peace was given a chance and it failed to stop the violence. But John made a difference to me. The music of the Beatles still matters to me and is as much a part of living a good solid life on this earth for me as breathing.Bye John. Thanks, pal. Let it be.dp

"The thing the sixties did was to show us the possibilities and the responsibility that we all had. It wasn't the answer. It just gave us a glimpse of the possibility."

I loved the Beatles. To me, there will never ever be another group like them. All of them so gifted together and individually.
I remember when John was shot. I was working overnight that evening covering the phones for a Crisis Hotline due to a shortage. The phones were non-stop. All the callers wanted was for someone to listen to their saddness. I have a strong background/degrees in Crisis Intervention and Social Work.
    Glad you posted this.
    John, you live on!!!!
PS-I watched a movie on BBC the other day about John's relationship with Stu who died way to early in his life too.
So hey, belt out your favorite John songs
    today!!!
Thank God the Beatles were in my life!
    Always will be my favorite!!!

John Lennon had a singular vision. One of my favorite's is LET IT BE.
    Good words to follow

I’ve been listening to John’s songs all day. He died shortly before I was born, and it’s always been hard knowing I missed him, but in some ways he’s always been around for me. Still, though, what I would give!

Thanks Matt. We are not alone. Did you see Paul on Jimmy Fallon singing his song for John. Jesus, what a profoundly moving moment on this earth. The real Paul McCartney singing about the real John Lennon, saying "I am holding back the tears no more."John lives as long as hope lives, as long as music lives, as long as dreamers dream.

Here's a VERY interesting, very early, newly-discovered live performance:
