Thrice Publishing, the umbrella NFP that publishes Thrice Fiction magazine, will be looking for submissions from May 1 through July 31 2015 for novella-length work (18,000 to 35,000 words) that we will publish as stand-alone titles.

We very much like Warren Cariou’s description of this form:

“The novella is generally not as formally experimental as the long story and the novel can be, and it usually lacks the subplots, the multiple points of view, and the generic adaptability that are common in the novel. It is most often concerned with personal and emotional development rather than with the larger social sphere. The novella generally retains something of the unity of impression that is a hallmark of the short story, but it also contains more highly developed characterization and more luxuriant description.”

We will be looking for work that starts fresh and clear. We aren't looking for Young Adult, Children’s Lit, Romance, or Memoir.

We are interested in quirky, literary, science fiction, fantasy, and any form that wants to bend the normal bounds of genre without looking like it’s trying too hard. See our free library of past issues of the magazine to see what we like.

Thrice Publishing will offer a writer-centered payment process and rights conditions. These details will be discussed and explained on an acceptance offer for your work.

So check your notebooks for likely projects, keep the May 1st start-date in mind, please bookmark and watch for further announcements at
