I may be revealing my techno-ignorance here, but I just did a search on Google for a story that I published a while ago in the journal "Our Stories", and which I also put up here on Fictionaut.
I've typed in the same search terms before, and what's come up has always been the Our Stories link. This time, the first thing that comes up is the story as it appears on Fictionaut.
What's weirder is that the terms I searched included my real name, while the story on Fictionaut is under A. Pseudonym, and doesn't mention my real name anywhere.
I didn't know posts on Fictionaut could appear in public searches. Is this new, or was I missing something?
Wait a minute. Your name isn't really A. Pseudonym?
;-)
Yep, this is not a password-protected site, therefore...
I think unless you understand how algorithms work this is a minefield to try and navigate. Also I think I heard somewhere that Google recently changed how things appear in their searches in terms of being higher up the search results.
Hmmm.
