Good interview, Susan. Enjoyed.
Really interesting exchange there. Hard to tell who is interviewing whom in places. Great observation about method acting as a process for use in the writing, the development of a story through character, from within the character. Wouldn't really want that to get too far abroad - trade secrets should be, well, secrets. Thankfully, it's not easy to learn.
Susan, great stuff.
Brilliant. Seriously brilliant. And hypercool! ;)
Thanks so much to all who read the interview and to those of you who commented here!
It was a fascinating process for me, as an interviewer, to have this talk with Robert Olen Butler. He is an author whose work I've adored for decades.
...and he likes your hair ; )
Joani!!!
Conjunctions just tweeted this interview. Congratulations! A good read.

This is an excellent interview, Susan. Someone on Zoetrope posted it, saying it was the best interview he'd ever read. Kudos and thank you!

Susan, I love Robert Olen Butler and this is one of your very best interviews - must have been so much fun!
Susan, you call him Bob and he likes your hair,
and you share little inside jokes abut method acting. . .hmm
Kathy, thanks for letting me know about the Zoetrope-- that is great!
MaryAnne, you must be in collusion with Joani Reese, are you 2 cooking up a reality show??
Ha ha!
