"I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again." -- Oscar Wilde

I have a folder entitled "Snippets." Sometimes I even find phrases, lines, and whole paragraphs I can plug in elsewhere. Never throw anything away!
I have a folder called Murdered Lovelies. It has a higher word count than my first novel ;^)
'Murdered Lovelies'- perfect title for a story. A grim one.
I never thought about saving Snippets and Lovelies. Perhaps it's a folder idea. Long ago, when I was a young man, a prominent painter told me, "The creative act is the pursuit of the happy accident."
New folder title: Lovely Snippets of Happy Accidents.
