Why do you write?

I like to write short stories and really don't know why. It's like listening to music or enjoying a movie.

Any favorite authors? Books?

I have trouble with this question every time it's asked, which seems often. It's a fair question and honest answers tell a lot about an individual, so I'm certainly not objecting or feeling imposed upon. It's just that a sincere answer takes too long to formulate and gives me a head ache.

Notwithstanding this seemingly evasive response, I'm not a contrary person and no one will ever have a hard time getting along with me.
