About Me

I am a former teacher who has taught computer software at the type of private schools that are now being investigated by the government for federal loan fraud and false advertising (ITT Tech, University of Phoenix, etc.) My book "Life In The Slow Lane", a comic memoir about teaching drivers education, concerns the foibles of one such company. The world of shady and sleazy business is disconcerting but also quite funny when viewed properly.

Why do you write?

I am intrigued by humorous underbelly of dysfunction. I am especially drawn to the way people lock onto dogmas and stand by them despite the cost they pay (ie cutting taxes will some day pay off for the population in general if we just keep at it; hey, who turned off all the streetlights?)

Any favorite authors? Books?

I am a big fan of Jess Walter, a writer from Spokane who has a great eye for humor in the mundane. His books "Citizen Vince" and "The Financial Lives of Poets" are excellent.

I also enjoy reading work by Nick Cave, Jim Harrison, and Chuck Klosterman.
