I am a urban planning nerd who loves writing fiction. I write about exchange students, supermarkets, the suburbs, angsty teenagers, sibling rivalry, bad things that happen in convenience store parking lots, good things that happen on public transportation, alienation and love.
I want to tell stories. Specifically, I want to tell one story, and I try over and over again to tell it and it doesn't come out quite right. If it ever does come out right, I don't know if I will feel happy or sad.
I have a rotating crew of favorite writers. Some of my recent favorites are: Grace Paley, Raymond Carver, Jennifer Egan, Joy Williams, Karen Russell, Alice Munroe, Nathan Englander, Mary Gaitskill, etc. I love a good short story.
