R Jay Slais writes from his home in Romeo Michigan while making a living as an engineer/inventor for a Metro Detroit automotive supplier. Being a single dad raising his two kids alone since 2001 has provided a lot of inspiration and material to write about. Some of his recent publications can be read at Barnwood, Mipoesias, Oranges & Sardines, The Pedestal Magazine, The Rose & Thorn, and Twisted Tongue.

Why do you write?

Being an artist at heart, I always have to be doing something creative and writing has been a great fuel to keep the creative fires burning.

Any favorite authors? Books?

My friends, mostly current contemporary poets and local performance artists keep me inspired.
