I am a writer, artist, events coordinator, mother, and explorer of the world, not necessarily in that order.
Here's a bio I came up with the other day:
Maleka Fruean has a journalism degree she only recently started using, mainly as an excuse to ask people questions without it being weird. She writes fiction, poetry, and bits of non-fiction, and has been published in The Molotov Cocktail, a flash fiction journal. She studies Rastafari and feminism, eats processed food and local gourmet, and enjoys juxtapositions immensely, including her own juxtapositional origin of Slovak and Samoan descent.
Inspiration fuel: coffee, time, writing groups, reading.
Why do I write? Because I love words. I have to more to say about this after more coffee.
Diane DiPrima, Audre Lorde, Anne Waldman, Ariel Gore, Diana Abu-Jaber, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Buchi Emecheta, Belle Boggs, Charles Yu, Haruki Murakami.
No one has written on Maleka Fruean's wall.
