I'm the author of two books: That Demon Life, a novel, and Long Time Ago Good, a story collection. My work has been published in two dozen or so journals, including Callaloo, Iron Horse Literary Review, and Short Story, and I'm a former winner of the Dobie-Paisano Fellowship, awarded by the University of Texas at Austin and the Texas Institute of Letters. I lived in Austin, Texas, for 25 years, at various times making my living working as a cab driver, as a shade tree salesman, and as an Internal Revenue Service bureaucrat. I'm currently Artist-in-Residence at Federal Prison Camp Bryan, and I'm also a Post-Doctoral Lecturer at Texas A&M University, where I teach literature, creative writing, and freshman composition
