Sometimes I think books have raised me. Reading is a way of life not just a hobby. I live in a small town in Connecticut with my boyfriend and enjoy the abundant state forests in my area. I'm 43 years old and at one point in my life thought that writing would play a major role in it but I've never officially written anything other than some random prose.
I currently am incredibly 'blocked' as a writer. What really gets me motivated is encouragement from my friends, reading great books and stories, and sites like this that have so many talented people.
I have a broad range of interests in authors and subject matter. My current read is "John Adams" by David McCullough but my book shelves are full of 'to be read' books from contemporary fiction, horror, scifi, lit, poetry, true crime..I'm all over the place in what interests me. Some of my favorite authors are Joyce Carol Oates, Sylvia Plath, David Sedaris, Mary Roach, Anne Rice, Jon Krakauer, Alison Weir, Bill Bryson, Sarah Waters, Shirley Jackson...I could go on. I am thrilled to see some incredibly talented writers coming into their own, especially Allison M Dickson and Kevin Taft. I look forward to watching this community grow together.
