Other writers fuel my creativity. I love sitting at a table with a cup of hot Blackberry Mocha and five or six other writers. As Writer's Digest stated on page 18 of their October 2009 issue-- We're "Being Geniuses Together."
Good books and good writing motivate me. A badly written book can fill me with dread, doubt and insecurity.
Most of my favorite books are from long ago and far away. No, not classics, just good old commercial fiction before the entire world became too commercial. Years ago, Margaret Millar, Arona McHugh, J. D. McDonald made me grab one book after another off the shelves. I recently read Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg. Thought that book got bad reviews, it spoke to me and I'm still amazed by her voice.
