I am a middle school language arts teacher with a passion for writing. I think that sometimes public schools do not spend enough time on creative writing responses and instead work on timed/structured writing in response to reading. I am hoping to prepare my students for actual writing workshops, not a grade on a paper. I am also hoping to someday write for the advancement of educational thinking.
I write when I see an issue that I think needs to be addressed from a different perspective, I write when I am inspired or angry, and I write after reading (not being timed or graded) to explore my thoughts in a deeper context.
Lois Lowry, Lydia Davis, Madeline L'Engle, William Faulkner, anyone who attempts to break the mold.
