About Me

A native Californian, living in San Francisco since the 60's. Careers in counseling and nonprofit management, but now work as a nonprofit consultant. Poet, photographer (formerly a film-maker).

Why do you write?

I have been writing and filming since I was a teen. The creative fuel? It is both my lifeline and basic sustenance, so it seems inherent. I write because I love poetry and words, not because I have a message to promote or, sometimes even share.

Any favorite authors? Books?

Older influences: Neruda, Ashbery, Paz, Mallarme, Desnos, Eluard, Reverdy, Rukeyser, Duncan, Vallejo, Patchen, Reznikoff, Milosz, Ginsberg

Deep attraction: Hejinian, John Yau, Arthur Vogelsang, Juliana Spahr, Mary Ruefle, Alice Notley, D.A. Powell, Bin Ramke, Alice Fulton, and especially my teacher and friend David St. John
