Born & raised in Canton, Ohio (also from there: the O'Jays, Macy Gray, Marilyn Manson). BA in Film from U. of Michigan. Played drums in various bands (including Joe Henry's). Moved to NYC, worked in publishing. Studied in Philip Schultz's "master class" writing workshop for many years. Published stories here & there, wrote & performed in plays (mostly at Ensemble Studio Theatre), gigged as singer/songwriter (releasing two LPs, SONGS ABOUT ANYTHING and CAMOUFLAGE). MFA from Fairfield U. Currently teaching writing at Fairfield U., local continuing education programs, & a high-security men's prison. Novel CARRY-ON published by Rain Mountain Press in January 2012.
