About Me

I am a former teacher... I taught for 36 years in public schools, and helped many children and teens with writing, and turning them on to literature. And designed an award winning program, Literature, Life Cycle and Inner Stories.

Presently I write primarily poetry and love this. I am a member of a dynamite writing group in town and member of the Joiner Center and a nature writers group in New Hampshire.

I travel a lot and include these experiences in my writing. Next month I am going to Crete and Santorini. I am writing a series of Greek immigration poems as my mom came from nothern Greece.

Why do you write?

Many things. Nature is a primary motivation including past memories and present journeying. My poetry contains a lot of nature imagery. Another motivation is listening to music which seems to wake me up for writing. And a main stimulus is listening to poets and writers read their work...either in
venues or in writing groups. I also am an avid reader.

I have been writing since the eighth grade and now that I have time , it is a way of life.

Any favorite authors? Books?

I particularly like Mary Oliver's poetry. And I am presently reading Anne Perry's new book that takes place in Byzantium,
The Sheen and the Silk. I am a mystery fan and read Ian Rankin,
Elizabeth George among many others.
