My second novel, Ghost Notes, released on my own imprint in 2008, won the 2009 PODBRAM Award for best work of contemporary fiction. My work has appeared in The Writer and Writers' Journal, and online at The Rumpus, Girls with Insurance and writersdojo.org. I am also a contributing writer at The Nervous Breakdown. I'm currently shopping my third novel, Badge.
Writing is monk-like for me. I write every morning every work day and whenever else I can get away with it. I do this whether I'm working full time or no-time. I do it if I'm inspired or not. I've fooled myself into thinking that, if I get my pages down, I've accomplished something that day, to the point that almost nothing else feels like accomplishing something. This has been going on for 15 years. I don't see it changing.
Contemporary writers I like are Stewart O'Nan, Jonathan Franzen, Tom Perrotta, Steve Almond and Zoe Zolbrod, among others
Ancient writers I like are John Updike, Saul Bellow, Marcel Proust, William Faulkner, Sam Beckett and Kurt Vonnegut, among others.
