Got my MFA at Lesley University and write creative nonfiction. My work has appeared in the Boston Globe, the Gettysburg Review, the Baltimore Review and other publications. My essay "Torn" was a notable essay of 2006 in the Best American Essays of 2007. I'm also mom of two toddlers, and work part-time in marketing at a local hospital. So the life - writing balance thing is interesting, to say the least.
What fuels my creativity? other writing (that's moves me in some way). Why do I write: Because when writing is going well, my soul does cartwheels. I'm also someone who is always searching for meaning. Although my therapist tells me I overanalyze, I like to think I'm someone who likes to find meaning in the simple things. I joined this site because my wonderful friend Sara invited me and it looks like fun. What writer doesn't need community anyway?
Joan Didion, Tobias Wolff, Abigail Thomas, David Sedaris (right now I'm reading When you Are Engulfed in Flames), Tom Perotta...I'll add more later.
