his hypocrisy -
that great abstraction
in defense of concrete
stops us all
from singing
tedium to ourselves.

Ideas, too, are things-
less palpable than plums,
perhaps, but with a longer shelf-life
and, when eaten, they
won't leave you disappointed
come morning
and breakfast time.
