I have my own ideas about what makes something a Word Riot story, a Monkeybicycle story, a Pank story, etc. but I'd be curious to hear what readers think.
What do you think differentiates the writing that different literary mags publish?
Some factors: word count, genre, some lean to more experimental
But I think most journals try to publish their "best" submissions, with "best" being in the eyes of the editors
Good writing. No remorse.
