The SECOND object offered for inspiration to this group: Egg whisk. For pictures and even a short video of the object, go here: http://tinyurl.com/ykof34u.
Write a couple of paragraphs in which you attribute significance to this object -- in any voice or mode you like. Remember, this text will be posted to eBay, so it shouldn't be much longer than 500 words. Shorter is absolutely OK.
Whatever you write and however you write it, the object should play an important role -- it should not be an afterthought. See earlier thread for Significant Objects tips.
I've just added my crack at the egg whisk story to the group. :)
I'm not sure why it is showing up as 507 words. The story (plus title) is 483 words in length.
Does a fictional story add real value to an object? Significant Objects thinks so. The project was founded to explore the relationship between narrative and value, enlisting great creative writers to invent stories about meaningless flotsam purchased for a dollar two at thrift stores or yard sales. Not only do we believe a story can add value to a thingamabob, we believe it can be measured. So we sell objects + invented stories, on eBay.
The idea for this group: We'll present an object. You'll write a story (500 words or fewer) that makes it Significant. If the Fictionaut community and S.O. curators like it enough, we'll publish it on our site -- and on eBay. See SignificantObjects.com for details (plus stories we've published, and object sales prices).
