Hey, folks,
My remembrance of Stanley Elkin's visit to Nice is up at The Big Other. Greg Gerke curates, John Madera edits. Life is good!

Thanks,

Bill,
what a wonderful piece. I love "Nabokov could get his memory to speak, and he could be pretty certain about what it said, but then his characters were galley slaves. Mine have minds of their own, they go running off into a confusion of tangled threads, and I’m sure my memories are just as tangled" but all of it is at one and the same time poignant and uplifting. Can I give you some Favs?
Bill this is great! I love Stanley Elkin, he was the original's original. A genius at dark comic fiction, a master of the form. Thanks for sharing this here with us~
ps-- I keep his book Van Gogh's Bedroom at Arles on my bed table. It's a kind of talisman.
