In the very near future it will no longer be nation states that have access to the materials which can build atomic weapons, it will also be certain individuals, i.e., the richest men in the world, who will command their own arsenal of ICBMs, and from that point forward the entire paradigm of human civilization will change into a world ruled by feudal lords who will be able to blackmail everyone else as a way of holding onto power and gaining even vaster amounts of wealth. Because it doesn't matter if the United States or Russia has thousands of these things. If Peter Thiel (who will soon be producing his own uranium, and yes, you read that correctly), for example, or Elon Musk, has 10-15 nuclear weapons it will be enough. You don't need much to end life on this planet, which is something the atomic theorists have always known. I think Don DeLillo was incorrect when he postulated that "the future belongs to crowds." It would appear that the future actually belongs to the few.
Although incredibly bleak, if one does see without rose colored shades the way things are shaping up, your point, Chris, is probably true.
And it's a fucking shame.
Timothy 6:10, which states: “For the love of money is the root of all evil.”
Enough with the negativity and hatred! Don't let racism or politics or any type of religion keep you from doing what is right toward your fellow man. There are innocent people, the ones who are not terrorists at all, who are starving to death on a daily basis, being killed indiscriminately, who need your help. If this doesn't break your heart, then who are you to yourself? They don't need your pity, they need your mercy. They don't need your prayers, they need your kindness. They need your compassion, not your fears. They need food and medicine, not disapproving stares. They don't need your stones thrown at them. They are already being brutalized in every possible way imaginable. As the man in the song says, "You get what you give." It's so little to ask.
I'm confused by your comment, Daryl. I don't understand what you're responding to.
Sorry, Chris, I was just letting off steam about the current state of affairs in the world and trying not to repeat what you and Tim already said. Sorry for the confusion. I seem to be good at that.
