  In the course of further excavations, I am well pleased to've come across Publilius Syrus, and we can almost be grateful to Google for retrieving him from 19th century neglect, to wit:

  In my haste to post here, I've not even checked to see whether he's represented in any Loeb or OUP volume of more recent vintage, but he's well worth whatever time anyone spends with his maxims.
