Our Fictionauts/Fictionauteurs conversant in French can tell us how accomplished the productions of Charlie Hebdo have been in literary terms: even Francophobic Americans may've heard of the outfit without ever learning of the specific content of their written work. (Their cartoons may have contributed at least as much to events leading to the massacre in their Paris office.)

Handfuls of Ubu's merdre will likely not be hurled today, not today. Today is the day to mull the pataphysical content of Ubu's merdre: bold pataphysical empiricists may stoop even to masticate it long enough to savor, to discern its content and qualities.

If tomorrow arrives, a sound pataphysical prediction and promise: if tomorrow ever arrives, satire and satirists will be waiting. Today, we watch and listen.
