This is a great television series from France (if you can handle sub-titles and read quickly.) Noirish and brutal, it's not for children or those who take offense at dramatic depictions of casual morality, violence or naughty language.

It's available from Netflix.
Additional recommendation(s): Univ of Exeter Press has two fine titles by RJHand and MWilson, Grand-Guignol: The French Theatre of Horror and London's Grand Guignol and the Theatre of Horror. Excellent introductions, surveys, translations. For specialists, of course: Agnes Pierron/Le Grand Guignol: le Theatre des Peurs de la Belle Epoque. John Kobler once had a nice essay on the theatre nicely illustrated by Chas Addams.
Thanks. On my way to add it to our queue.
Thank you!
