I know most publications don't want previously published material. I have run into a dilemma with one of my pieces, hoping someone can answer this.

One of my pieces was published on an online zine. It now seems like that zine now longer exists. The site has been down for a month or so. I'm sure this is a bit of a stupid question, but should I send now consider this piece technically unpublished and send it somewhere else?

It received a lot of good feedback and I'd like to see it placed elsewhere.

It was published. Do not send it anywhere that doesn't accept previously published work.

Thanks. I figured this was probably the case.

That's why I don't like to publish online.

Someone else is always turning the lights off.

(but they can't take a book out of your hands, off your shelf...).
