I write part-time, mostly for small press and online publications. I've also scripted comic books, film, live children's entertainment, PSA's, etc. I'm a contributing editor at Full of Crow (http://www.fullofcrow.com) and creator/editor of the ezine disenthralled(http://disenthrallme.wordpress.com), a fusion of art, photography and flash-length writing which explores the shadowland between contemporary Gothic and Noir.
Poe has colored my imagination since I first learned to read.
Patricia Highsmith was a big influence early on; in particular, her novel CRY OF THE OWL and short story "The Barbarians."
RED HARVEST by Dashiell Hammett.
THE DEAN'S DECEMBER by Saul Bellow.
THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE by George V. Higgins.
WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE and the masterful short story "The Witch" by Shirley Jackson.
I've always read more poetry, plays and short stories than novels.
