About Me

I am a Dubliner, having lived and worked here my whole life. I love my city and am conscious of the literary wealth of Dublin and Ireland. I have written privately for my own enjoyment, escapism and therapy for some time.
My main interest is Irish and American Literature, though I read biography, travel writing, political writing and photography books too.
I have no time for certain snobbishness that exists in the literary world e.g. Where a man writes about emotions and relationships he is deemed a writer of literary fiction, but, where a woman does the same she is categorized as a writer of chick-lit! There are fantastic modern women writers, especially in Ireland, great storytellers and masters of the craft of writing.
I would love to write in any way resembling John McGahern or Richard Ford! Who are the Modern writers whom I enjoy following and evolving? Joseph O'Connor, Willy Vlautin and Colm Tóibín I believe have unlimited potential. What do I enjoy most? Discovering an author, established or new, whom I have not read before and whose book I don't want to end!

Why do you write?

Personal experiences, peaks and troughs on the rollercoaster of life - an adventure and too short a journey that each of us endure in search of enlightenment, love and contentment.

Any favorite authors? Books?

Richard Ford, John Updike, Tobias Wolff, John McGahern, Colm Tóibín, Joseph O'Connor, Elmore Leonard, Cormac McCarthy, Willy Vlautin, Pete Dexter, Paul Auster, Richard Russo, Philip Roth, Patrick McCabe, Tim Gautreaux, Sam Shepard, John Connolly, Colum McCann, Jonathan Raban, Patrick Kavanagh, Seamus Heney.

Too many authors, too many books, not enough time!
