(Wasn't able to post a comment to the story so I'm placing it here) Wonderful writing style; great narrative voice. Several conflicts create the tension underlying the narrator's own conflicts within himself.
I'm just not sure that the ending doesn't come a bit too quickly after his confrontation with the doctor. But then, he wasn't really hurting anyone until this.
Overall, very absorbing story about a character that I did like very much.
