A Brooklyn Heights poet, teaching writing and literature forever, or so it seems. Ready to retire and write some stories and more poems! Are there any more poets out there?
Wrestling with ieas and words is very satisfying when one gets it right, traveling to far-flung places, the more exotic the better, irony, playing with ideas and words. I'm also a great believer in "found" poems, in which one merely highlights part of a conversation, as "Hello/Goodbye" below illustrates. I don't always use this method, but for short poems, it's often very effective.
Toni Morrison, James McBride, The Poisonwood Bible, The Bottm of the Stairs, Sula,Yo.
