Why do you write?

I'm happier when I'm writing than I am doing anything else, what started as a hobby to fill the time I used to spend working and raising a family I started writing fiction, it has become an obsession.

Any favorite authors? Books?

Ayn Rand, Doris Lessing, more recently Jhumpa Lahiri and Catherine Ryan Hyde and Jeffrey Eugenides. I have a new favorite book every year. This year's would be Middlesex, Eat,Pray Love, The Help.
