I'm currently an MFA student at the University of Montana. I grew up in Montana but spent ten years in Tacoma and Seattle, WA. Right now much of Montana is burning and the air is smokey, the sunsets amazing.
I've tried many things in life, from environmental organizing to the piano, but writing my fictions has been the only thing I've managed to stick with, mainly because I love doing it more than just about anything. Also, it would appear as though my brain is hardwired for it.
I'm a big, big fan of both Michael Chabon and John Updike. I read a lot of literary journals and short story collections. John Brandon and Karen Russell are two young writers who blow me away. Marquez has had a big influence on me I've also been reading comic books and graphic novels for a good fifteen or so years.
No one has written on John's wall.
