British expat living in the US. Lovely wife and kids - REALLY lucky in that department, thank you very much. However, I have little time for writing, especially since I got a Facebook account :)
I have a keen interest in social media - I am fascinated by the social implications. That's one of the reasons why Fictionaut intrigues me. However, I also believe that this format will make it easy enough for me to break the time barrier and actually write something. Having others tell me what I'm doing wrong will definitely help too!
I've always been an avid musician. However, I also enjoy the creativity in writing. Like listening to great music inspires me to create music, reading great stories inspires me to write.
Right now, I am on a Neil Gaiman kick. I first came across Gaiman when I read his Douglas Adams biography. Then I found American Gods in the library and thoroughly enjoyed it. I later similarly enjoyed Coraline, and most recently Stardust. I think there are several reasons why I like Gaiman so much - like myself, he's a Brit living in the American Midwest and a big Douglas Adams fan. Also, his books skillfully interweaves fantasy and gritty realism, which is thought provoking. If there's one thing I like, it's having my thoughts provoked :)
