I've written professionally for more than 15 years, but most of it has been as a newspaper journalist. I'm working on a collection of short stories and essays for my thesis at Lamar University, where I work in public relations and teach media writing. I hope to publish at least some of the pieces from my thesis but haven't started shopping them yet. I'd welcome any advice on that process since it's brand new to me.
I'm a Mississippi native and Mississippi College graduate. In 1995, I moved to Beaumont, Texas, where I live with my husband, Pete Churton, who is a photojournalist, two cats and a puppy who finds new things to destroy every day.
The power of stories has captivated me since I was a child. I love the way good stories let me see into other lives (real or imagined) and want to create that for my readers.
